The Bell 400 took place just outside of Vryheid, in the KZN region. The riders were in for a long, dusty day in the saddle. Two the the teams "Enduro Specialists" took part in this event. Being the first Offroad Scott Scheepers & Germaine Goldstone took part in this year, they started in row 9. With 35 bikes ahead of them, they would be eating dust all day.

Germaine had some tough luck, damaging his rear brakes within the first 60km, putting him out of the race.

Scott battled through the dust all day, bringing his Gas Gas to the finish line. He ended up 7th National Open.

The National Offroad series returned to Botswana on the 20th June 2013, for the Desert 1000. Offroad Senior, Wayne Farmer, took his Gas Gas 300 onto the top step in the Senior class on Day 1, with some stiff competition.
He was unable to complete day 2 of the event.

On 8th June we headed off to the Seven Oaks/New Hanover area for the 3rd round of the KZN WFO ENDURO series.

From the talk in the pits, we were in for a tough day in the saddle.

Myself & Germaine were there to give this course a go on our Gas Gas EC300e's. We both weren't 100% healthy suffering with a bit of flu in our systems.

The race started nice and flowing until the 4km mark, from there it was in your FACE for the next 30km, rocks, rocks & more rocks.

After the first lap, I decided this would be a race of survival so I slowed the pace down & preserved the bike and myself. There were bodies and bikes strewn throughout the course, overheating & resting.

By the 3rd and final 30 km lap was just hanging on gritting my teeth and letting the bike do the work. The Gas Gas 300 has an amazing amount of torque, this allowed me to ride at low rpm up those loose rocky climbs without having to fight the bike.

I managed to finish 6th Overall & 2nd in Open Class (5hrs41mins)

Germaine Goldstone my teammate finished a credible 12th Overall & 7th in open class (6hrs58mins)

There were only 16 riders out of 150 starters that managed to complete the three lap’s course. This Enduro was definitely the toughest race in many years.

Quick stats for the regional 3lap entries (Not including seniors/masters & clubmans, there were 18 finishers here who did 2laps):

KTM: 20 Started 7 finished 35%
Husabergs: 7 Started 3 finished 43%
Beta: 1 Started 1finished 100%
Gas Gas: 2 Started 2 finished 100%
Honda: 2 Started 1 finished 50%
Yamaha's: 13 started 2 finished 15%
This Enduro was more about the rider’s technical ability and the reliability of his bike than sheer speed. But still interesting statistics and a good result for Gas Gas and our sponsors..

Without the support of Makita Power Tools,Tork Craft Power tool accessories ,Liqui Moly ,Mitas Tires, Kuluma TV, Just Tools, Fox and Gas Gas South Africa we would not be able to compete.

Many thanks
